Percussion Ensembles

Our percussion ensembles meet once a week for rehearsal at the studio. We currently have group ensembles for student 5yrs-adult.  All ensembles learn how to play steel drums as well as work on pieces that involve hand drums, hand held percussion instruments and also  “found objects” such as buckets and car break drums.  Being in an ensemble helps the students work on group playing and put’s to use what the students are learning in their private drum lessons.

By learning the steel drums in the ensembles, the students get to learn different pitches on the staff for the steel drum; these notes are the same that a pianist would read.  All ensembles perform in the community and also put on a concert at the end of each session.
