Devin Vaillancourt is a Boston based drummer and percussionist. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Umass Lowell with a Bachelor’s degree in Sound Recording Technology. His teaching experience includes private drum set lessons, marching band drum line instructor, front ensemble instructor, and concert band student mentorship.
During his undergrad he studied drum set and orchestral performance with Fred Buda (Boston Pops), Jeffery Fischer (Boston Ballet), Andy Fordyce, and James Lattini. He has performed with many Umass Lowell ensembles including; the Wind Ensemble as principal percussionist under the direction of Daniel P. Lutz, Concert Band, Marching Band, Hockey and Basketball Pep Bands, Contemporary Electronic Ensemble, String Ensemble, Choral Ensemble, Mothers of Rock tribute concerts, and Mixed Chamber ensembles.
Outside of the university, Devin performs with his Lowell-based band synth rock band Western Education. He has played with numerous other artists both for live performances and studio sessions, including Umass Lowell professor Ricky Berger, Jon Kohen, Derek Weagle, Dekay Kennedy, Blair Levitt, Shimon Ben-Shir, and has shared the stage with many other musicians. He has also performed in numerous pit orchestras for musical theatre productions.
His knowledge of sound recording has allowed him to create a live playback, monitor, and light system for Western Education which has been featured by Motu. He has also produced recordings for artists like oldsoul and Lauren Parks, and has experience in the live sound industry mixing for artists like Nick Goumas, Jeri DiMarco Bergonzi, Mr. Nick & The Dirty Tricks, and The B3 Kings.
