Zach Field Drum Studios was started in 1999 in West Newbury, MA. After many years of giving lessons in West Newbury, the studio grew to capacity and needed more space and more instructors. In March of 2008, Zach Field Drum Studios moved to the Newburyport location where there was more space for the studio to grow.
The studio has four drum set rooms and an ensemble room. Each drum set room is equipped with two complete drum sets, one for the teacher and one for the student. The drum rooms have computers in them that enables the teachers to access the music program, Rhapsody. Rhapsody is a web-based program that allows the teachers to access millions of artists and songs, instantly, www.rhapsody.com. The rooms are also equipped with an isolation headphone system that allows the teacher and the student to play along with songs and still hear the music over the volume of the drums.
Lessons at ZFDS consists of a well rounded education covering rudiments, snare drum pieces, reading exercises, melodic percussion studies, improvisation, funk/rock/jazz/latin studies and also learning music that the students are interested in. Many times throughout the year, the studio puts together an ensemble to perform in the community.
